 The topic of regional union in the African continent has become an important variable from the variables of the new world order, as the global economy has gone through an important stage represented in increasing the degree of economic openness that made many countries cooperate with each other within the framework of economic agreements of various forms to expand later to achieve integration And integration, while the economic, political, security and social conditions in the African continent in general were unstable and fragile as a result of the wars and internal conflicts that the region witnessed, as these conditions led most African countries to think about establishing regional blocs for the purpose of achieving economic development in their geographical regions, especially in The international interest in it has declined, and from this point of view, the western region of the African continent witnessedin 1975 the first launch of the establishment of a regional economic bloc called the “Economic Community of West African States” (ECOWAS), of a purely economic nature, but soon the goals for which it was established changed with the change of The securitydata and thus transcend those economic goals to what is beyond "collective security and political stability to bring peace." and security in the region” by amending the treaty establishing the group at the beginning of the nineties of the last century by issuing the amended treaty in 1993 AD in order to find solutions to armed conflicts and other political crises in its regional space and to carry out peacekeeping tasks commensurate with its material and logistical capabilities and work on coordination between them and Between international bodies such as the United Nations and the African Union, and among the cases in which the organization intervened, we discussed the case of Côte d’Ivoire, which through this study shows that the causes of conflict in Côte d’Ivoire are primarily due to ethnic, religious and political reasons, which opened the race between opposing groups to reach power Whatever the cost of human and material losses, while the role of the group in settling this conflict was a pivotal role through the activation of diplomatic and military efforts.
